WHITE SALMON COTTAGE
REMODEL AND FURNISHING
After living in a large house in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Portland for many years, our clients decided to give tiny living a try. They sold their home and moved to a beautiful (and tiny) cottage in White Salmon, WA. Since space was a valuable commodity, we designed several custom built-ins to help the couple increase their storage and living space. A window seat was designed in the small living room to provide additional seating and storage. The kitchen was updated with fixtures, tile, cabinet faces and a combination countertops. New lighting was selected throughout to give the space a more modern and sophisticated edge. We kept the palette warm with neutrals, earthy reds and soft, organic materials and textures. We collaborated with Black Rabbit Builders on a walnut bed with concealed storage and upholstered a custom headboard with a vintage textile. We also designed a built-in dresser that provided the couple with storage for clothing and other personal belongings. We furnished the loft with a custom headboard incorporating storage, soft bedding and a sheepskin rug, to create a cozy retreat.
To increase their living space, we also took advantage of their existing covered porch and furnished it with a large sectional to provide plenty of comfortable seating, as well as bistro table and chairs for outdoor dining.
