Project Reveal: Skyline Residence Basement

Tucked into a private neighborhood in the west hills, Wise Design was called to help with a partially finished basement space. The previous owners used the space to display model trains - the tracks for the trains were still visible on the floor!- but our clients had other wants/needs for the large, tall basement. They needed a spot to not only entertain family and friends but also an area for guests to comfortably visit. A place for exercise equipment as well as a place to store said equipment and any other storage was also high on the list.

The other areas of the home had lots of rich, existing Doug Fir wood. Wise Design continued this material language into the basement but added a slightly more contemporary take with a tighter grain and interweaving cool blue/grey/green palette in select casework areas.

Tile from Clé, dark quartz countertops and hardware from Schoolhouse married beautifully with lighting from Arhaus and Visual Comfort.

New windows looking out into the forested backyard are framed with gorgeous fir casework and beams by Clarkbuilt and lit by Visual Comfort.

The long back wall of the basement was designed to be a combination mini bar, Murphy bed and guest nightstand/closet space with a large open space in front for multi-purpose use.

Depending on the space's needs at the time, a portable rowing machine or small dining table can be in or out of the room as needed with all items able to be tucked away into a storage closet. A guest bath and functional pantry were also added, providing ample room for any and all needs.

We're currently working on the kitchen upstairs in this home, so there will be more to come from the Skyline Residence!
