PEDAL PT

 ADAPTIVE REUSE

Wise Design worked with Kevin Schmidt, founder of Pedal PT, to create an innovative and bike-friendly physical therapy clinic in the heart of Portland's Clinton District. The project started from the ground up in a beautiful industrial building that was divided into two lease spaces. The concept for the space was to design the build-out to keep existing structure exposed and preserve the architectural character of the building. Most of the new construction was concentrated along the new dividing wall except where privacy was needed in the space. To create an energetic and fresh aesthetic, the existing steel structure was updated with a bright pop of color, which is juxtaposed against soothing hues of blues and greens. Transparent materials were utilized throughout the space to maintain privacy without sacrificing natural light. Gooseneck and drum shade fixtures were introduced to compliment the industrial character of the building. We also designed a custom reception desk, and a charting counter with a hand-washing station and linen storage for the gym and treatment rooms.
