NW HILLSIDE HOUSE
LIVING AND DINING ROOM FURNISHING
Our client approached us with a question: how do you combine a love for modern design with antique family heirlooms? We were happy to answer, you can have both! The NW Hillside House's inspiration came from the beloved family rug, passed down from our client's grandmother. Its subtle flecks of blue and gold provided the palette for the the brilliant living room sofa, custom made by Perch Furniture, as well as the walls and console. Additional family pieces including a gorgeous antique chinoiserie hutch and painting sit side by side with streamlined modernist pieces like a vintage Ib Kofod-Larsen Penguin chair, a midcentury chaise and Eileen Gray inspired side table. The fireplace was custom designed by Wise Design with a new soapstone surround by Milan Stoneworks and mantel fabrication by George Ramos Woodworking. A new custom mirror, also designed by Wise Design sits above, reflecting the incredible vista of downtown Portland, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, the Willamette River and the Fremont Bridge.

The dining room has a new expandable white oak table, allowing for ample seating and generous dinner parties. New roman shades and soft lighting allow for the views from the bay windows to take center stage. Black windsor style chairs add contrast and interest, echoing black accents found throughout.
